Krause 5.0 was born on Thursday, April 16. Here is his story.
As previously posted, this was the longest I'd been pregnant and I was grumpy. On Wednesday, 38 weeks, I felt a handful of mild contractions in the late afternoon. When it was obvious that nothing was happening, I went to bed feeling a little defeated and anxious. Around 2 I awoke to my regularly scheduled insomnia. After lying in bed for about a half hour, I felt what might be a contraction. A real one. After thirty minutes of moving around and monitoring for contractions, I decided it was the real deal and woke Jared up. They weren't too powerful, but were coming regularly about every 5-7 minutes.
While Jared showered, I called his parents to come be with our sleeping children, called my mom so she could head down from St. Augustine, and called my midwife, Corinne.
38 weeks, 1 day enjoying some contractions in the lobby at 4 AM.
We were checked in at the hospital by 4:30 and I was measuring at an 8. Contractions intensified at 5:30 when Corinne broke my water. By 6, I was in transition, and saying things like "I don't want to do this." and "It's so hard. I don't think I CAN do this." Jared was great as always and reminded me that I could, in fact, "do this." Besides it was kind of too late to not "do this."
Weston's delivery was probably one my scariest because when he decided to come it happened quickly and unexpectedly. I wasn't in a pushing position, but was just managing a contraction lying on my side in the bed. All of a sudden, I felt an enormous amount of pressure and pain and screamed so loud I couldn't believe it was me screaming. (In fact, I screamed so loud I scared my neighbor who was delivering her first baby. I felt so bad, we stopped by before going to recovery to assure her I'd survived and wish her luck. In the cutest voice ever, this sweet young 20-something said, "You scared the hell out of me." It was pretty funny. To be honest, I scared myself.) Everyone jumped to and realized that Weston was coming and that I needed to be readjusted. I was in so much pain and with an added 35 pounds found it almost impossible to actually move myself. I'm pretty sure the nurse, Jared, and the midwife were the ones to actually move me. Another contraction came fast and with a huge push out came Weston. It seemed I was still not in a great position because his shoulder wouldn't come out. With a little adjustment from Corinne to my hips, out he came at 6:20 AM. I couldn't have done this without Corinne; she rocks!

All 7 lbs, 15 oz and 21 inches of him. He ties Landon for being my biggest baby.
We are so glad that Baby Weston is here.
Just relaxing after a long morning. Poor fella has bruises all over him. Probably because when he decided to come my legs were closed and he just banged around on every bone in my pelvis. Seriously, his head, forehead, nose, cheek, ribs, abdomen, knees, and calves all had bruising. Poor little guy.
Enjoying some time with Gigi and Papa.
Everyone is so happy about our "New Brand" Baby.
Ethan wrote this sweet story about Weston on the way to the hospital.
Weston Edward.
We went back and forth on Weston's middle name. At first it was going to be Stuart, which is Jared's middle name. Then we decided on Paul, a great uncle of Jared's who passed away in WWII. Earlier in the week, when I realized it was a good possibility that Weston could be born on April 15, the day my Granddaddy Edward William Pomar passed away 19 years ago, I threw that in the ring. He didn't come the 15th, but we liked how it sounded and decided to make the change.
Getting his inaugural home bath by Gigi. This is a special memory. Gigi has given every one of my children their first bath at home. Weston wasn't a fan. He cried nearly the whole time.
The only part he liked was when Gigi poured the water over his head. Then it was right back to crying.
He survived and enjoyed some brother snuggles.
