Grayson--2 Months

Grayson is two months old today! Very hard to believe that so much time has passed. We love our little man and are so happy he has joined our family. Today we went to the doctor and he got his first round of shots. Of course, he cried when he got stuck, but he recovered quickly and forgave us for inflicting pain upon him. Here are his stats: Weight-- 10 lbs, 15 oz; Height 21 3/4 inches, so he is in the 25% and is looking great according to his doctor.
Grayson is now our smiling baby and he is discovering that he can use his voice for purposes other than crying. His big brother, Ethan, takes great care of him and is a big help to Mommy. Here are a couple of photos of our 2 month old, Grayson. Sleepy smile.

I bought a 12 month white onesie and plan to take Grayson's photo in it each month. Watch as he slowly fills it out.

Service in the Lord's Church

As many of you know, our church doesn't have a paid ministry, which means each member of a ward (or unit) holds a calling. A calling is basically a responsibility that we believe the Lord has asked us to do (as He inspires the Bishop--leader of a ward) in order to serve in the Church. For the last five years (well, nearly five years), I have been serving in the Young Women's organization of the Church. I loved serving in this capacity. I grew to love the girls I worked with and learned so much about Heavenly Father's plan for women and more importantly, for ME! I also took the opportunity while serving in Young Women's to complete the Personal Progress program and received my award in November 2009.
Today, I was released from this calling and asked to serve in the Primary as First Counselor in the Primary Presidency. The Primary is responsible for the teaching of the young children in the Church (ages 1.5 to 12). I have only served a brief time as a Primary teacher when I was about 18 years old and home from BYU in the summer, so I am very nervous. I joined my church at age 16 so never experienced Primary as a child, so this is my first real venture into Primary. I am excited to learn new things and to serve the Lord in a new way. Now that I am a mom, I have truly learned that children are "an heritage unto the Lord." I hope and pray that I will be able to help the children of the Church learn how much Heavenly Father loves them and that they can return to live with Him again as they desire and try to keep His commandments.
I am very sad to leave "my" girls and the exemplary women I served with in Young Women's. 2010 is proving to bring many exciting changes and it's only January 10!

New Blog Header

Thanks to Aunt Myndie we have an awesome new blog header. Just thought she deserved a shout out.

Grayson's Blessing

We blessed Grayson on Sunday and it was a very special day for all of his. Ethan even wore his snazzy suit (thanks, Andrew)! Grandma and Grandpa, Gigi and PaPa, Uncle Dana, Aunt Valerie, Kalia, Uncle Kevin, Aunt Melissa, Nathan, Uncle Brandon, Lyla, Rachel Taylor, and Barbara, Jacob, & Ella Anders came to your special day. Your UP Ward family was also there to show love and support. Uncle Jason, Aunt Myndie, and Uncle Tony were too far away to come. Uncle Joe and Aunt Stacey were sick and couldn't come. They were there in spirit.
Jared performed the blessing and his brothers and dad stood in the circle. Sabra took notes of the blessing for me (so glad she remembered because I totally forgot). Here are the highlights ... "Your Heavenly Father has many blessings for you during your childhood. We bless you with a long and prosperous life. We bless you that you will bring joy to those around you and that you will have a strong testimony of Jesus Christ and that one day you will become a member of His church. We bless you to grow up strong and that you will have good friends who will support you and that you will support them. We bless you that one day you will go on a mission and be an ambassador of the Lord to testify of Him. And, that you will bring peace and joy and love to those who do not have the gospel in their lives. We bless you to one day be married and sealed in the temple."
